Ombrellos is a well established and popular cafe, restaurant and bar located in the northern end of central Dunedin, New Zealand. We are set up in two converted historic Dunedin houses. One is the "Cottage" with it's warm terracotta walls and open fires, “the crows nest”, is an upstairs dining area with a bit more privacy for parties of up to 12. The other is the "Bar", which has won awards for it's contemporary architecture.
Nestled between these beautiful buildings is our courtyard which offers both sheltered and fully alfresco dining and can even be enjoyed in winter due to a large open fire and outdoor gas heaters.
Ombrellos has been serving patrons since 1990, and in July 2006 was sold to Mike and Rachel Bird by some of Dunedin’s well known Otago and All Black Rugby players Tony Brown, Jeff Wilson, and John Blakie.
We serve a cafe style menu with using fresh New Zealand produce. For brunch and lunch we offer innovative and highly original dishes, while for dinner a more formal menu is served. (All menus are available on website)
Rachel has selected a skilled and knowledgeable staff to operate Ombrellos. The chefs share our philosophy of perfection and strive to create a menu everyone can enjoy. Our Head Chef Steven Duncan works closely with Rachel to create delicious seasonal menus. Our waiting staff have great expertise in wine, and know the menus in detail.
As well as the stunning historical architecture, our walls are adorned with regularly changing art by famous Otago artists including Deidre Copland. |
